Greece - I love this blue
As the title of this post says, the blue of Greece is wonderful. From the sea water to the houses, it's simply stunning. Blue is my favorite color, it always has been. I think it's related to a deep blue dress my mother had when I was little. She looked amazing in that dress, and that color became my favorite. With that in mind, I have a vast collection of blue dresses...

The country I've always wanted to visit
I think we all have that one country we want to visit. For me, that country has always been Greece. This was influenced by a book I read when I was little, "Peoples of the Past - The Greeks", which I still have. I was fascinated by that culture, and ever since then, whenever people asked me which country I wanted to visit, I answered Greece.

One Cruise, Two Dreams
This will be the first post in a series about Greece. Or rather, about the experience of traveling on a Royal Caribbean cruise (in this case, the Spendour Of The Seas). In which we'll explore each day of the cruise individually, and the places visited. So many beautiful things, I couldn't fit them all into one post. In 2010 I made two dreams come true on this trip: to visit Greece and to take a cruise on a Royal Caribbean ship.

Cruise, Senior Trip?
As for those who continue to think that a cruise is only suitable for seniors, get it out of your head. I loved it and I recommend it. I traveled with a group of friends, there were 12 of us and our ages ranged from 11 to 73, and everyone loved it. We visited Venice, Split, Corfu, the Pyrenees, Mykonos and Katakolon (Italy, Croatia and Greece).

"Fatiotas", Dinners and Formalities
And get ready girls, you'll have the chance to wear all your wonderful dresses to dinner here. Dinners here are always formal/gala. Then there's white night, when we're all advised to wear white. And the captain's night, when the dress code is strict. Packing for a vacation on a cruise of this type is totally different. And it requires more clothes and more formality than for a "normal" trip. Here the weight of luggage allowed is 30 kgs, not the usual 20 kgs.

Getting to the Ship and Boarding
We flew to Milan, spent a night there, took the train to Venice and then the People mover to where we boarded the Splendour of the Seas.

We were going to miss the train from Milan to Venice. And we literally had to run to avoid being left on the ground... Now imagine this with two children, an elderly person and suitcases, lots of suitcases...
Group spirit is innate in us and instinctively in those few minutes everyone started helping each other. Those who ran faster got on the train and helped the others up. Some people were picking up their bags and taking them to the train. My mother and I got on as the train was starting. In the end everything went well and we all boarded.

When we arrived in Venice, we went to store our bags until it was time to check in on the boat, go for a walk and have lunch. Italy and its wonderful cuisine, Beautiful Italy!

Photos, photos and more photos...
Get ready to spend money like never before on... photographs! That's right. There's always a ship's photographer ready to take pictures of you, which you can't resist buying...
And it's time to get on board... this was an introductory post to the trip, over the next few weeks you'll be able to follow the whole journey with a post for each day of the trip. Stay tuned and don't miss the departure.
Keep going...
