Montmartre walking tour step by step

1. Rue de l'Abreuvoir and La Maison Rose (romantic stop)

One of the most photogenic streets in Paris, with ivy-covered houses. A La Maison Rose is one of the most beautiful cafés in the city.

Tip: go early to avoid crowds of photographers. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

2. Place Dalida and secret view of Sacré-Cœur

A small square dedicated to the Italian singer, with an incredible view and almost always quiet. One of the best spots in Montmartre.

3. Stairs from Rue de l'Abreuvoir to Rue des Saules

Take it easy and look at the workshops on the facades - some of which are still active. On the left, you'll find Vigne de Montmartre, the last vineyard in the city.

4. Montmartre Museum and Renoir Gardens (optional)

A small, poetic museum about the artistic history of the neighborhood. The gardens recreate the environment where Renoir painted.

5. Secret alley: Passage de la Sorcière (hidden curiosity)

Almost invisible, this alley is known as "the witch's passage" and hides one of the most charming staircases in Montmartre.

6. Sacré-Cœur Basilica

Even if you already know it, go inside to breathe in the acoustics and light. Go up to the dome if you want the best panoramic view of Paris (300 steps later!).

7. Place du Tertre and surroundings (explore the sides)

Avoid the most touristy part of the square and get lost in the side streets. A Rue Norvins and Rue des Trois Frères have charming surprises.

Touristy, yes - but irresistible. Perfect for coffee and apple pastries in the late morning.
